Hastings Science Research Program Students Return from WESEF with Numerous Awards

 

WESEF 2017  

 
On Saturday, March 4, 2017, Hastings High School Science Research students participated in the Westchester Science and Engineering Fair (WESEF) at Sleepy Hollow High School. The WESEF competition included projects by more than 550 students from 38 schools. The top 12 individuals and top 3 teams qualified for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair to be held in Los Angeles, CA in May.  Projects were judged by professionals in related fields five times.

 

Hastings High School students came home with a number of awards including the following:

 

Wes Sava: First Place in Mathematics and the Mu Alpha Theta Award

Emma Jacobs: Third Place in Animal Science and the American Meteorological Society Award

Sarina Lincoln: Third Place in Medicine and Health

Alexander Gemme: Fourth Place in Medicine and Health

Frances Dovell: Fourth Place in Medicine and Health

Ella Blicker: ASM Materials Science Award

Ben Wan: ASU Walton Sustainability Solutions Initiative and Office of Naval Research Award

Andreas Radovanovic and Nicholas Bernstein: Mianus River Gorge Ecology Award

Sakura Hamazaki: Walter Kass Memorial Award for Excellence in Behavioral Science Award
