I will be selecting our spring show from the above musicals. Auditions will be WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 13 from 4:00-6:00pm, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 14 from 3:15-4:30pm and CALLBACKS will be FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15 from 3:15-6:00pm.
Please choose from the attached selections. Just choose one. I will get a sense of what feels right once I hear your choices.
Of note:
My first choice is NEWSIES. Ladies, please know that the featured Newsies are often girls and are wonderful roles. At face value it looks like it's a show for boys, but it is moving and epic and with the exception of a few roles, gender is not a factor in this experience from both participant and audience standpoint.
Challenge: Lots of Dance in 8 weeks...but a deeply fulfilling experience. It's really moving to see young people standing up for themselves! Music is TERRIFIC. Really a special show. And a challenge in all areas. So many roles. HUGE show.
Second, AVENUE Q: SCHOOL EDITION. I will need to implement an ensemble. 12 + Features. 6 females, 6 males. I love this show. Love the music. Love the social awareness. Definitely something new for us as the Challenge is in the PUPPETRY. But I do have someone to work with us on it.
Third, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. This is the one that (to me) fills the bill more fully with regard to our Hastings female/male ratio - with a classic (and very funny AND well written) script and really fun, silly music. 5 females, 8 males (unless I make the 2 gangsters girls - which I think would work)
I would be happy with any of these. Let's see what feels right!!
