• Hello Everybody!

My name is Amanda Bassmann and I am a Physical Education teacher at Hillside.   I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary and Special Education from The University of Scranton in 2012.  From there I took a short break to work at Walt Disney World as part of their College Program.  Upon my return from the most magical place on earth, I started my masters program at Manhattanville College earning my degree in Physical Education in May 2015.  I started teaching and coaching at Hastings in September 2015.

As a Hastings alumni, I can proudly say that this is the place where I learned to love teaching and physical education, and now I have the unique opportunity to teach in those very classrooms and gymnasiums.  It is my goal to impact my students in the very same way.  I personally believe that physical education in schools is a stepping stone to achieving a healthy lifestyle for ones self by providing students with the neccessary knowledge and tools to do so.   Students are taught responsibility, respect, decision making, personal value, and self worth, all important for everyday life.

At Hillside we have many fun activities planned throughout the year such as a health and wellness fair, obstacle course, Family Dance Night, and Field Day!

Please feel free to stop by the physical education office at Hillside anytime, the door is always open!
