Kathryn Concra grew up in upstate New York, where she began her music studies at age 3. She developed strong musical skills studying with teachers in both New York and Boston.
Kathryn attended the Juilliard School majoring in viola performance while studying under Toby Appel, and also attended Berklee College of Music where she received a B.M. degree in Film Scoring. Kathryn also has an M.A. in music education from Columbia Teachers College. She completed her student teaching at LaGuardia Arts High School and P.S. 87 in Manhattan.
Before moving to Westchester, Kathryn was a full time faculty member at the High School for Violin and Dance in the the Bronx, New York where she taught violin. Kathryn also has experience teaching general music and viola at The Nightingale-Bamford School and violin at Saint Ignatius Loyola on the upper east side of Manhattan.
"I am very excited to be a member of the Hastings community. 2019-2020 will be my 11th year teaching at Hillside. I look forward to exploring music, movement and art with the Hillside students, parents and staff. I also enjoy cooking, The Simpsons, all things Batman, and cupcakes."
