Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Eszter Fejer
This is my 12th year teaching FIRST GRADE at Hillside. I have been teaching for 16 years. Prior to coming to Hillside, I taught in both general and special education roles, working with grades 3-5. I am dual certified in Elementary Education (K-6) and Special Education (K-12). I also have a Masters degree in Literacy Education.
This November, I will be celebrating my 16th anniversary with my best friend. My husband and I are blessed to have four beautiful girls, ages 11, 8, 5 and 16 months. I love spending time with my family and I enjoy traveling - though I haven't been able to do it so much with little ones. I am a collector of children's books and I have lots of favorites to recommend!
It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, I LOVE TEACHING FIRST GRADE! This year will be the first time while working at Hillside, that I am not teaching the ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) class. While I have mixed feelings about leaving this role because I love the model, I'm excited to be the first grade Collaborative Learning Classroom (CLC). I will be partnering with Ms. Kristina Ippolito, our new 1st & 2nd grade Learning Lab teacher, as we will be sharing some students. While my role has slightly shifted this year, my outlook remains the same. I'm very passionate about advocating for students' individual needs and I strive to instill confidence and a love of learning in even our most timid friends.
Now to answer the question many tend to have ... How do you pronouce your name?
ESZTER - is pronounced the same as "Ester" or "Esther" - just spelled in Hungarian (which is my background)
FEJER - my maiden name - is pronounced "Fayer" or as some students in the past have said "Fair, because you're so fair!" - I'll take it! :)
