Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Eszter Fejer

This is my 15th year teaching FIRST GRADE at Hillside.  I have been teaching for 20 years.  Prior to coming to Hillside, I taught in both general and special education roles, working with grades 3-5.  I am dual certified in Elementary Education (K-6) and Special Education (K-12).  I also have a Masters degree in Literacy Education.

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, I LOVE TEACHING FIRST GRADE!  I am the general education teacher in the Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) class This is a model that I have taught all but one of my 15 years at Hillside. Kristina and I are in our third year of co-teaching together.  I'm very passionate about advocating for students' individual needs and I strive to instill confidence and a love of learning in even our most timid friends.

To give you a peek into my life outside of the classroom...

I am the proud wife of a retired NYC Police Officer.  My husband and I are blessed to have four beautiful girls.  I love spending time with my family and I enjoy traveling.  Our goal is to hit all 50 states together as a family before our oldest goes off to college. I am a collector of children's books and I have lots of favorites to recommend!

Now to answer the question many tend to have ... How do you pronouce your name?

ESZTER - is pronounced the same as "Ester" or "Esther" - just spelled in Hungarian (which is my background)

FEJER - my maiden name - is pronounced "Fayer" or, as some students in the past have said "Fair, because you're so fair!" - I'll take it! :)
