Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Eszter Fejer
This is my 13th year teaching FIRST GRADE at Hillside. I have been teaching for 16 years. Prior to coming to Hillside, I taught in both general and special education roles, working with grades 3-5. I am dual certified in Elementary Education (K-6) and Special Education (K-12). I also have a Masters degree in Literacy Education.
This November, I will be celebrating my 17th anniversary with my best friend. My husband and I are blessed to have four beautiful girls, ages 12, 9, 6 and 29 months. I love spending time with my family and I enjoy traveling - though I haven't been able to do it so much with little ones. I am a collector of children's books and I have lots of favorites to recommend!
It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, I LOVE TEACHING FIRST GRADE! This year I am returning to teaching the ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) class, which is a model that I've taught all but one of my 12 years at Hillside (last year I taught the Collaborative Learning Classroom and partnered with 1st & 2nd grade Learning Lab). I will be partnering with the same colleague I worked closely with last year, Ms. Kristina Ippolito. I'm very passionate about advocating for students' individual needs and I strive to instill confidence and a love of learning in even my most timid friends.
Now to answer the question many tend to have ... How do you pronouce your name?
ESZTER - is pronounced the same as "Ester" or "Esther" - just spelled in Hungarian (which is my background)
FEJER - my maiden name - is pronounced "Fayer" or as some students in the past have said "Fair, because you're so fair!" - I'll take it! :)
