• Introduction

As a State Mandated course required for graduation, Health Education is often taken in the 10th grade, if the students schedule allows.  Being the Department Chairperson for Health Education, I have taught every level of Health the district offers.  My course is heavily influenced by the New York State Standards for Health Education as well as  NYS Health Education Guidance Document.

How to Improve my Grade in Health Education:
    • Complete all assigned work even if it is late - Late assignments receive a 5 point penalty for every day they are late (for a maximum of 25 points)
    • Attend extra help - Each day after school I will be in either H2 or the HS PE Office.
    • Complete Extra Credit - Often, when an assignment is returned an extra credit assignment is designated.

Students who are unable to participate in class activities due to an absence will be required to stop in to meet.  If assignments were missed or left incomplete an alternative schedule will be created.

    Assignments
In-Class and Take-Home Assignments:  Throughout the semester a series of activities will be assigned.  Additional copies of these activities can always be found in the Health classroom (H2).

Extra Credit AssignmentsStudents who are interested in improving their quarter grade may complete an extra credit assignment.  Before beginning an extra credit assignment you should have a conversation with your teacher.  Depending on which assignment is chosen and your performance on the activity, extra credit will be earned.
