• Contemporary Politics: the study of how people get and use power

    Participation in Government:  Contemporary Politics             One Semester-½ Unit

    (Open to all grades; priority given to 9th and 10th grades)

    This course requires you to read newspaper articles about the political process, to watch video, to participate in discussion, to write about yours and others' political points of view. You will debate not only from your point of view, but also from that of others' perspectives.

    By the end of the course, you should have a knowledge of the role of the free press, politicians, and average citizens in society.
