Senior Moments is a strange name for a podcast about high school seniors. This podcast includes interviews with high school seniors at Hastings High School in Westchester County New York conducted by Valerie Henning-Piedmonte, Superintendent of Schools for the Hastings-on-Hudson School District. Students who have spent 13 years in school have a level of expertise and knowledge that we adults can miss if we don’t have an opportunity to have a conversation with them. High school seniors are a lot like satellites orbiting a planet collecting all sorts of data about how their experiences as students from kindergarten to 12th grade shape their outlook and influence their choices for the future.

Teachable Moments is a podcast about teachers and what led them into the profession. While teaching was the hardest job that I have ever had, it was a career that I loved. I didn’t enter my undergraduate studies considering a career in teaching. Some people know very early in their lives that they are going to become a teacher. Others, like me, explored other careers first before becoming a teacher. Through conversations with teachers in the school District, I explore their journey into the profession by examining why they became a teacher, the impact that teaching has had on them, and a memorable moment involving something that a student said or did that still makes you smile.
