Capital Bond Implementation

Hastings-on-Hudson Union Free School District is pleased to announce that all three propositions of the Capital Bond were approved by voters on June 17, 2025. We are deeply grateful for the community’s support and confidence in our schools.

This investment will enable us to move forward with important facility improvements and educational enhancements that will benefit Hastings students now and into the future. We look forward to sharing updates as the work progresses.

About the Capital Bond Referendum

The Capital Bond project includes three major priorities, required to ensure that our students have the educational facilities and athletic spaces needed for their success.

  • Building Conditions Survey (BCS) Items – Mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) upgrades across district facilities. These necessary improvements, identified through the state-mandated Building Conditions Survey (BCS), involve replacing old and outdated equipment and bringing building systems up to current code. Upgrading the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure is critical to ensure safety, energy efficiency, and the long-term functionality of our schools. $11,254,780

  • Farragut Complex Addition & Instructional Space – Creation of instructional space, including new classrooms and special education spaces, in the footprint of the existing cafeteria; relocating the existing cafeteria by creating a new addition in the Farragut Courtyard; the creation of a new front entrance at the Farragut building; bringing spaces up to current code standards and compliance including accessibility. $19,049,461

  • Athletic Fields and Site Work at Burke Estate – Installation of two turf fields (multisport field and softball field) and associated site work at the Burke Estate. $8,171,259

Triton Construction Company has been appointed as the Construction Manager to guide the District through the entire Capital Bond process. They will coordinate the work of multiple partners to ensure a smooth and efficient implementation.  The district is working through competitive bids with LAN Associates, the lead engineering and design firm for the bond process, in partnership with PBDW Architects, known for their role in the Hillside Bond Project, to create and implement a Master Plan for the Farragut Complex. Additionally, The LA Group is providing conceptual designs for upgrading the Burke Estate athletic fields, incorporating both artificial and natural playing surfaces. The Farragut Complex master plan prioritizes maximizing space efficiency, reorganization opportunities, and cost effective new additions. This thorough plan ensures the facility meets both immediate and long-term needs, aligning with the district’s evolving educational vision.
