Hi! My name is Adrian Forman, and I teach 7th & 8th grade ELA, as well as 6th grade journalism. Your child's social, emotional, and academic growth are the center of my days, and I eagerly look forward to watching the year unfold. Please feel free to reach out to me (email is the best) at firstname.lastname@example.org, whether it is with a question about your child or just to say hello.
Homework, past assignments, the class calendar--basically everything one might need to know--it's all located on Google Classroom. Each class has its own Google Classroom page, and your child has access to the appropriate Google Classroom page through his or her school email address/account. If you would also like access to your child's Google Classroom page, you will first need to make sure you have a gmail account. (If you do not have one, it is easy to set up for free by going to Google's website.) Once you have a gmail account, please email me to let me know. I will then email the classroom code to you so that you can access the page. All documents handed out in class are posted to the Google Classroom page. Any missed or lost material can be found on Google Classroom. All assignments are posted there as well.
A little about me: Once upon a time, I earned my BA (Brandeis University) and MA (University of Pennsylvania) in English. I then had a successful career as an editor, writer, and publishing consultant (publishing with The New York Times and others) before becoming an English teacher. As a Hastings resident, parent of two HHS students, and a teacher in the district, I can honestly say I am an "all-in" when it comes to Hastings!
My big advice: Ask your child what he or she is reading in class and then...read it, too! You will have quite a bit to talk about with your child at dinner and/or bedtime, and you'll maybe even find a new favorite book!
And speaking of favorites...my favorite book: Gone with the Wind and A Prayer for Owen Meaney (okay, so it's a tie). Favorite movie: What About Bob? What's YOUR favorite? Your child's?
