Last week was Hastings' Homecoming Week and one thing is for certain; there is no shortage of school spirit here.
Students, parents, staff, and other members of the community stood along the sidelines in a sea of green and yellow to cheer on student athletes in cross-country, field hockey, soccer, volleyball, tennis, and football.
From musical chairs and a tug-of-war at Friday's Pep Rally, to the Hudsonettes' impressive high kicks and the Yellowjacket mascot strutting about to amp up the crowd , there were many moments filled with pride and joy, working together and coming together.
Superintendent Dr. William McKersie shared his sentiments in his latest Community Update:
"Our early win-loss record is good, but my focus is what I am seeing (and feeling) relative to character and relationship building. We may win or lose, but I always want Hastings to “win with character and relationships.” The early evidence is encouraging. Lots of participation is being matched by obvious effort, team cohesion and good sportsmanship. Remember my mantra for the year, “success, meaning and joy”? Well, I saw it in play at each athletic contest."
