HHS Music Dept. Brings Home Trophies

 

The Hastings High School Music Department was once again successful at their biennial trip to compete in the WorldStrides OnStage Heritage Festival.
 
The String Sinfonia earned a Gold rating and was named Outstanding Orchestra Group; the Chorus earned a Gold rating and 1st Place ranking in the Concert Choir category; the Pink Panthers earned a Gold rating and Adjudicator Award; the Madrigals - Mixed Ensemble earned a Gold rating and 2nd Place ranking in the Chamber Choir Category; the Jazz Ensemble, Madrigals - Treble Ensemble, and Orchestra each earned Gold ratings; and the Band earned a Silver rating.
 
Choral adjudicators were Dr. Jamie Hillman (Gordon College), Dr. Timothy Shetler (Eastern Nazarene College), and Elizabeth B. Woodhouse (Newport County Youth Chorus); instrumental adjudicators were Stephen Bell (retired, Eastern Nazarene College), Dr. Dominick Ferrara (Berklee College of Music), and Diane Wittry (Allentown Symphony Orchestra).
 
Additionally, two HHS students were selected by adjudicators to receive Maestro Awards acknowledging their standout individual performances: Emma Bowers was selected by the choral adjudicators for her oboe solo with the Madrigals - Mixed Ensemble, and Ruby Pucillo was selected by the instrumental adjudicators for her vocal solo with the Jazz Ensemble.
