Hastings High School Fall Sports Teams Named Scholar-Athletes
Six Hastings High School sports teams were designated as Scholar-Athlete teams by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.
To earn the recognition, the average GPA for at least 75% of the team’s roster must be greater than or equal to 90%. Every student-athlete on all six teams met the requirement. This is the 29th year the athletic association has conducted the Scholar-Athlete program, which is sponsored by Pupil Benefits Plan, Inc. and the American Dairy Association North East.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment, which sheds light on the tremendous all-around efforts of our student-athletes, educators, administrators, and parents/guardians,” said Andrew Wendol, Athletic Director for Hastings-on-Hudson UFSD.
NYSPHSAA recognized 1,437 Scholar-Athlete teams with a total of 18,961 individuals. Hastings-on-Hudson was one of 329 schools across the state that participated in the Scholar-Athlete program this season.
“Everyone should take pride that Hastings is developing well-rounded student-athletes who not only excel on the field, court, and track but in the classroom as well,” said Wendol.
Hastings will have a chance to submit its winter sports teams and individuals when the winter 2021 Scholar-Athlete submission period begins on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021.
