Hillside Kindergartners Take a Trip to Muscoot Farm
A few rain drops and puddles didn’t hold kindergarten classes back from enjoying the morning at Muscoot Farm on Tuesday, an annual field trip tradition at Hillside Elementary School.
To culminate their chick-hatching unit, students got to meet a bunch of other animals. From cows and baby goats, to sheep, chickens, and very large pigs, there were many new friends to be made.
“This trip was extra special!” said Kindergarten Team Leader Nina D’Amato. “The weather couldn’t dampen our spirits, either. The classrooms were filled with peeping sounds of our baby chicks hatching in the morning! So, students started the day off excited to meet even more animal friends.”
Muscoot Farm was originally owned by the Hopkins family and used as their summer estate and dairy farm from 1880 to 1924. In 1924, the family moved to the farm year-round and continued the dairy business until 1967, when Westchester County Parks & Recreation acquired the property.
