At Model United Nations (MUN), students learn about diplomacy and international relations. They work as the representative of a country, solving a problem with other student delegates from around the tristate area. MUN teaches participants skills like research, public speaking, debating, and writing, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership.

"Approximately 500 students from the tristate area participated," said Model U.N. Club Advisor Michael Willson.

At the closing ceremonies, Gelman received an award for Verbal Commendation for Botswana, the country she represented.
