Farragut Middle Schoolers Participate in Geography Competition

orange auditorium seating with students sitting For the first time ever, Farragut Middle School is participating in Hackley’s Tri-State Geo Competition against 15 other middle schools throughout the region. On Friday, March 3, they hosted a preliminary round Geography Bee in the newly renovated auditorium. 

“All went great!” said Alexis Comerford-Jones, a sixth grade social studies teacher. “We had 22 seventh and eighth graders (11 each) and 14 sixth graders who participated. They took a Google Form quiz of 60 questions prepared and reviewed by Hackley School.”

A congratulations is in order for:

  • Sixth graders: Jordan Isidori, Antonio Marquez, and Elias Perez-Costa;
  • Seventh graders: Jason Kass and Mattias Nollen; and,
  • Eighth graders: Reuben Belasco, Noah Berkowitz, Jack Bilman, Anthony Holder, Theo McCabe, Madeline Thomas, and William Weber for making the top 12!

Kids in seats on computersThe next round will be held after school next Thursday, March 16, in the Blue Lecture room. 

Families and friends of the top 12 are invited to join the audience to cheer on our contestants. The top five finalists from round two will qualify for finals, which will take place at the Hackley School in Tarrytown in May.
