Farragut Middle School's Top Five Geo Bee Finalists Move on to Tri-State Regional Finals

5 Students with teacherAs noted in a previous Hastings Happenings, this year, for the first time ever, Farragut Middle School is participating in Hackley’s Tri-State Geo Competition against 16 other middle schools throughout the region.

On Friday, March 17, students advanced from the preliminary round and participated in a live mock Geo Bee in the Blue Lecture Room. They eagerly waited in the hallway to begin.

“There were several families in the audience cheering on participants,” said sixth grade Social Studies teacher Alexis Comerford-Jones. “The questions were tough, but students rose to the challenge and did an awesome job stepping outside of their comfort zones.”

The top 12 semi-finalists have been narrowed down to the top five:

  • 6th Grader: Elias Perez-Costa
  • 7th Grader: Jason Kass
  • 8th Graders: Anthony Holder, Theo McCabe, & Madeline Thomas

These students will be invited to the Tri-State Regional Finals at Hackley School in Tarrytown on Sunday, May 21, to represent FMS in both individual and inter-school games.

Congratulations to all and good luck at regional finals!
